THE TOOLKIT · FREE

The working
templates.

Everything in Intent reduces to three objects: the job, the truth, the lesson. Here they are as fill-in templates, plus three skills that teach Claude to run them with you. No email required.

Intent Toolkit

A 60-second diagnostic, the three objects as fill-in templates with their chapter references, and a complete worked example from Sue's world: the spec, the pinned receipt, and how the pieces connect.

WHAT'S INSIDE

PDF · 10 PAGES · DIAGNOSTIC + TEMPLATES + WORKED EXAMPLE
01

The Leak Test

A 60-second diagnostic. Answer honestly for one real project and find out where you're losing the user.

02

Intent Spec · CH 8

The backbone artifact. A compact model of a job with enough texture that a reasonable person can judge whether you hit it.

03

Memory Card · CH 11

The organizational second mind. Records every important bet so the next team doesn't start from zero.

04

Evidence Ladder · CH 5

The default insert for any decision record. Maps how confident you should actually be, rung by rung.

05

The worked example

Sue's month-end close: a completed spec with attachments, the pinned receipt, and how the pieces connect.

06

What's next

Where to go when these pages hit a nerve. The templates are the entry point; the operating model is the book.

THE SKILLS

ONE PER OBJECT

A .skill file teaches Claude a discipline from the book. Each one runs as an interview: one question at a time, pushing back on vagueness. It never paraphrases your user's words into corporate language.

HOW TO INSTALL

  1. 01

    Download

Grab the .skill file below. It's a zip archive with the skill folder inside. Unzip it and read SKILL.md if you want to see exactly what Claude is being told.

  2. 02

    Install where you use Claude

On claude.ai or the Claude desktop app: Settings, then Capabilities, then Skills, then upload the file. If the picker insists on .zip, rename intent-spec-builder.skill to intent-spec-builder.zip; it's the same file. In Claude Code: unzip into ~/.claude/skills/ so each skill is its own folder.

  3. 03

    Just talk

No commands to memorize. Describe a user problem, paste a call transcript, mention something a customer said, or ask for the artifact by name.

THE JOB

intent-spec-builder

Interviews the job out of your head one question at a time, or assembles specs straight from session transcripts. The rule it enforces: the user's words are the asset. It never paraphrases them into corporate language.

“help me write an intent spec”

THE TRUTH

receipt-recorder

Turns raw signal into receipts: verbatim quotes, ticket clusters, numbers that moved. Classifies each by evidence rung and warns when a bet's scope exceeds its proof.

“capture what that customer said”

THE LESSON

memory-card-writer

Drafts a Memory Card for every meaningful bet and answers “have we tried this before?” from the record. Records bets, never hunts villains. Lab notebook, not tribunal.

“write the card for what we shipped”

The test for everything here comes from the book: did it change a decision? If you can't point to the decision, the artifact is ceremony, however good it looks.
